There’s So Much to Love About Hardwood Floors
A hardwood floor’s value isn’t remotely limited to its beauty. It is as strong and durable as the trees used to make it, and therefore a lasting investment in your home. You will find that investment reflected accordingly in your home’s value should you ever decide to sell it. A hardwood floor demands very little maintenance, and it is incapable of trapping the kinds of particles which could agitate allergies. A hardwood floor’s luster will not fade with time, and should you ever decide to change things up a bit, you’ll find refinishing your hardwood floor the ideal way to go about it.

Site-Finished vs. Prefinished Floors

Solid Hardwood Floors
You can protect your wood floor by following these easy guidelines. (Note: These guidelines apply to wood floors that have been pre-finished with urethane.)
- Use rugs at workstations, pivot-points such as stair landings and room entryways, and other high-traffic areas to reduce wear.
- Keep pets’ nails trimmed and paws clean and free of dirt, gravel, grease, and oil.
- Place protective pads beneath furniture legs and feet to reduce scratches and dents.
- Make certain furniture casters are clean and operate properly.
- Exposure to the sun and its UV rays accelerates the oxidation and aging of wood and fabrics. We recommend rearranging rugs and furniture periodically so that the floor ages evenly.
Maintenance Dos and Don’ts
You can protect your wood floor by following these easy guidelines. (Note: These guidelines apply to wood floors that have been pre-finished with urethane.)
- DO remove spills promptly using a soft cloth.
- DO sweep or vacuum regularly, as built-up grit can damage the finish. If you vacuum, the vacuum head must be a soft brush or felt type. Be certain the wheels of the vacuum are clean, smooth, and will otherwise not damage the flooring.
- DON’T use oil soaps, liquid, paste wax products, or other household cleaners that contain lemon oil, tung oil, or ammonia.
